Artist Statement
“Inspired by the Olmec creation story, this artwork portrays a woman and a jaguar in an ethereal, ancestral realm. The piece features a symbolic pattern emphasizing the harmonious connection between humans and this majestic creature. Both figures exude regal charm, adorned with identical crowns. The woman's blue skin symbolises her status as a goddess, transcending the boundaries of skin colour and race. Throughout Latin American history, the jaguar has remained a unifying symbol across various tribes and indigenous communities for millennia.” - Katherine.
